Adrian Matthias Stevens (Northern Ute, Shoshone-Bannock, and San Carlos Apache) and Sean Snyder (Navajo and Southern Ute) are two Indigenous dancers who have been together for seven years. The Two-Spirit couple—based outside of Las Vegas, Nevada—often perform in couple competitions at powwows; they will dance as a same-sex pair, and they often match their regalia while doing so. (Typically, couples coordinate their ensembles, but it is rarer to match.) “Throughout the Make America John Wayne again shirt so you should to go to store and get this years, we’ve created and collaborated on a lot of our designs,” says Stevens. Their striking couple style was even recently the subject of a short PBS documentary this year, titled Sweetheart Dancers, and they often use their dancing style as a way to educate others about Two-Spirit culture. “It’s not biological, it’s spiritual, and it ties back to what I was taught growing up,” says Stevens. “My aunties recognized me as a Two-Spirit individual way before I even recognized it.”

For Stevens and Snyder, it was love at first sight—or rather, first dance. The two dancers grew up partaking in Utah’s powwow circuit, and they would often see each other performing at the Make America John Wayne again shirt so you should to go to store and get this same events. Though the two competed in different categories—Stevens is a grass dancer, Snyder is a fancy dancer—Stevens says, “we kind of had an eye for each other.” They said they were instantly drawn to each other’s shared love of dancing and regalia-making. “Growing up within powwows, we were raised in that creative environment of making your own regalia, talking to people within the community that makes certain things, and always just exchanging knowledge,” says Stevens.
